He later operated the [[Aron Cannery Company]] in Stockton.

Hershel was born in Targu Okna, Romania in 1884. He emigrated to the United States in 1904, and lived in San Francisco and San Jose. He operated the German Cooperage Company at 117 Brazil St. in San Francisco in 1913. In 1920, he took over the [[Contadina Canning Company]] in San Jose. In 1910, he was living in Daly City (with his brother Morris and family at 38 Theta Ave.<ref>1910 United States Census</ref>. By 1925, he was living in San Jose's Rose Garden district on Fremont Street.
