Early dried fruit packer in San Jose. George Frank raised the bar on spoiling his employees when he brought an orchestra in to play to the girls packing fruit.
Frank's packing house was leased to Sunsweet in 1917, and was sold to the California Prune and Apricot Growers by 1920. He started a separate company, the Smith-Frank Canning Company, after 1917.

Details
Sold cannery to George N. Herbert in 1919, moved to Sacramento and reorganized as "Smith-Frank Packing Company". New company would operate canning and dried fruit packing plants at Sacramento and maintain an office in San Jose. The dried fruit plant had been leased to the Prune and Apricot association, and would go to the new company by June 1920.
