In 1904, Armsby was also considered a fruit broker ("wholesale commission merchant"), and J.K. (based in Chicago) was one of the VPs for the National Canned Foods and Dried Fruit Brokers Association.
March 21, 2008 Berkeley Daily Planet article on Allenoke Manor on Ridge Road in Berkeley says that Armsby controlled the distribution of california canned and dried fruit as well as Alaska salmon. Allen Freeman, owner of the house, was general manager in San Francisco.
