Samuel S. Haines was a Santa Clara fruit dryer. The drying yard was at Poplar and Main (now a school and park); Mr. Haines himself lived at 552 Washington St. The company appeared in San Francisco Call 1900 list of delivery spots for California Cured Fruit Association.
Mr. Haines was quoted in the Great Robin Debate in the January 19, 1897 San Francisco Call, debating whether robins were a pest for orchards, or if they might actually eat the (supposedly bitter) ladybugs.
