J. J. Shaner was a Santa Clara Valley fruit dryer, selling fruit primarily to the east coastCite error: Invalid <ref>
tag; refs with no name must have content. Shaner's dryer was a drop-off location for prunes for the California Cured Fruit Association in 1900[1].
Shaner was an early supporter of the California Dried Fruit Association in 1888. Shaner also recommended the use of almonds as root-stock for apricots[2].
Shaner may have been Dr. John Junius Shaner, author of "The Character Builder", a religious tract[3].
