Dried fruit marketing agency formed by several San Jose area cooperatives.
The "California Fruit Association" name comes from a history of cooperatives. An article in the September 4, 1901 San Jose Evening News referred to the company as the "California Dried Fruit Agency", and said that it would represent the Campbell Fruit Growers Union, East Side Fruit Growers Union, West Side Fruit Growers Association, and Santa Clara County Fruit Exchange. At the time, the Willow Glen Fruit Union and Berryessa Fruit Growers Union were staying out of the California Fruit Association pool.
