Berger and Carter was a fruit processing equipment manufacturer and dealer. The company, based on the west coast, produced canning equipment and drying equipment. The company made various sizes of mechanical dehydrators from two ton to 50 ton[1]; by 1921, this part of the business was known as Berger, Fleming and Brown. The company also made a wide line of canning machinery including slicers, pie foundries, and agitating cookers[2].
Anderson Barngrover bought the canning machinery business in January, 1923[3]. Berger and Carter planned to increase its iron and steel business.
