Vacant buildings used for Porter Brothers after Vendome fire of September 28, 1898 burned packing house on North First Street.
The Evening News on September 27, 1898 notes that the old buildings were next to the woolen mill.
History San Jose said they were part of the California Fruit Canners Association, shows label with Gardenia brand
