Stapleton-Spence is a modern dried fruit packer specializing in dried fruit and nuts. The company was founded in 1951, and started by buying the existing Drenton Packing company. In its early days, the company co-packed prunes in cans and packages for Rosenberg's and Abinante and Nola in 1951. In 1954, the company relocated to an industrial area south of downtown San Jose. Stapleton-Spence began buying direct from growers in the late 1950's. In the 1960's, the company bought Cupertino's Woelffel Cannery for the machinery.

The company still exists. Stapleton-Spence moved from San Jose to the Gridley in the Central Valley in 1998[1].
