The Continental Packing Company was a meat canner that appeared in mid-1930. The plant on Berryessa Road was under construction in July, 1930; W. H. Luhrback would manage the plant (and serve as secretary and treasurer of the corporation.) Leascher and Mahoney of Phoenix were the architects[1]. A later article points out that the plant would be processing horse meat[2].. George F. Cokely, "head of the plant", was buying 500 head of mustangs in Oregon to start the plant off. By 1931, the company was advertising fresh horse meat for sale[3].
