Kirsten and Company

The Kirsten Packing Company was an Oakland-based canner operating the Walnut Creek Canning Company in Walnut Creek, and a sardine cannery in Monterey[1]. The company packed tomatoes and fruit. The company apparently also had plans to pack meat[2]. The firm was founded by Ernest J. Kirsten, N. S. Boone, and T. J. O'Leary.

The company hit hard times in 1922, with financial problems beginning after the death of Kirsten[3]. The Walnut Creek cannery was operated by Helmond and Franke in the 1924 season[4].
