The Flickinger Cannery was an early San Jose cannery founded in 1886 by noted orchardist J. H. Flickinger. Flickinger's cannery was also located well away from central San Jose where most other canneries were located. "When he bought the land in 1880 for his orchard and cannery it was in pasture, grain and mustard, and honeycombed by squirrels and gophers."
Flickinger died in 1898. The cannery still existed as late as 1922 according to the Canner's Directory[1], but there is no sign of the company in city directories of the same era.
