The California Fruit Preserving Company was a turn of the century cannery. It had formerly been known as the R. Hickmott Canning Company[2]. Robert Hickmott founded the cannery in 1890 after a stint working for a Sacramento cannery.

Jack London worked for the company during his youth. The company was well-known for its peaches and asparagus[3].

The company was merged into the California Fruit Canners Association in 1900; their plant was used as a warehouse by the Oakland Preserving Company[4].

Hickmott died in 1922[5].
