The Bentleys were already principals for the Sacramento Packing Company, and Fries and Fontana were owners of M. J. Fontana and Company. The company canned asparagus[2]. The actual cannery was in Courtland, California, southwest of Sacramento.

The company was merged into the California Fruit Canners Association in June 1899.
