Stapleton-Spence began buying direct from growers in the late 1950's. In the 1960's, the company bought Cupertino's Woelffel Cannery for the machinery.

Stapleton-Spence moved from San Jose to the Gridley in the Central Valley in 1998, and still exists[1].
